The Internet: Soon to be in One Global Language
Remember the Universal Translator in the Star Trek series? By 2012, we could be there!
According to scientist and author Ray Kurzweil (http://www.KurzweilAI.net), everyone connected to the Internet will be speaking the same language.
And that's one quarter of the people on Earth, according to a report from the Jupiter Research Company.
How can we have a global language? IBM already has it going, with software that is currently being used to translate Chinese and Arabic television programs into English. Plus they already have in the field, 2-way translators programmed with tens of thousands of words, for our people to use in Iraq.
One-Language Software Already Exists
But more than that, we have Los Angeles-based company Language Weaver, (http://www.languageweaver.com/home.asp) which has developed automatic translation software which can translate as fast as you can type (or talk).
