Prosperity Exercise #2: Focus on Past Successes
by Suzann Kale
We have a tendency to dwell on everything, including past financial ventures that may not have worked out.
Here's how to channel the act of obsessing into a money-making flow.
Watch your thoughts. Whenever you find yourself thinking about a past failure, money lost on a stock, a
business venture that didn't work out, or a book that you're having trouble getting published, tell yourself "Stop". Stop thinking that thought.
Next, you'll want to have a replacement thought - because the mind has trouble thinking nothing. So replace your failure thought with a thought about something in your past in which you've succeeded. It doesn't have to be big - just anything that worked out well for you. A job interview that you won, a sales contract that you finalized, a blog that is getting great comments,a relationship that's running smoothly. You want to find a moment in your past when things flowed smoothly and effortlessly, and then you want to re-create the feeling you had in that moment. Remember it in detail. Was your body relaxed? Was your mind alert but not hyper? Make your own list.
Instead of substituting your "failure" thought with a remembrance of a past success, you could also choose to substitute your "failure" thought with a visualization of future success. Find which works better for you, and use it.
